There are several aspects to consider when planning a family reunion:
-Where to go
Atlanta has many places that are available, affordable and accessible for any event. We have parks, such as Stone Mountain, Callaway Gardens, Chastain Park, Botanical Gardens and several museums such as Fernbank, ApexMuseum. We also have resorts outside the metro Atlanta area Sea Island, Barnsley Gardens, Tybee Island and many more!
-Where to stay
Choosing a location is very important! Lakeside view, hotels, cozy cabins or cottages are a essential aspect of designing your event. Choose a location that is affordable and accessible.
-What to do
Arranging excursions, whether it's nature walks or activity classes. These events are what family members look forward too and assure that monies invested are well spent. Create a budget that is feasible for everyone.
-What to eat
Whether your family chooses a catering service or services provided by your special location, you must make sure the menu is suitable for everyone. For example: fish
-What to wear
Where ever you plan to spend your reunion it is more than important for children as well as elderly and pregnant women to bring appropriate attire. Take into consideration medical conditions, climate etc. You would hate for the uncle Bobby the comic to encounter sinus problems! Please make to sure to resolve this in advance.
-What to send
Within 15months time proper notification should be sent to all attendees to keep them informed of the upcoming event. In the beginning stages approximately 15months before, send out group letters and invitations inquiring to where the reunion should be held. What kinds of activities and how long it should last. Inform them of a deadline and that their suggestions are of importance.
- In 12 months time contact representatives and titles should be assigned. Send out invitations including Where,When and Cost. Be sure to include any registration fee's or any other additional cost to give family members ample notice.
- The next six months a monthly newsletter should be send to family members to keep them informed of any changes or changes needing to made. For example, develop a menu and determine who will bring what. If banquet service is needed or barbecue grills are needed, signature glassware plates etc. and enclose that this information is needing to be assigned. Ask for volunteers! Who is going to stay behind after everyone is exhausted!
-Ways to reminisce
With all family reunions the joy of meeting members that you have never had a chance to meet, new members and legends. It is always best to come prepared with stories, facts, pictures and everything else to create a joyous moment and learning experience!
-How many children are attending
-Is there adequate amenities
